Management Accountant

Salary: £35K to £45K (dependant on experience).

 

 

Reports to Head of Finance

 

Main Purpose of Job

The purpose of the role is to ensure that monthly management accounts and financial information are provided in a timely and accurate manner, and working closely with stakeholders across the business, in order to support the financial management of the company.

 

Key Responsibilities/ Results Areas:

  • Production of the monthly management accounts pack, delivered to tight deadlines together with variance commentary and supporting schedules to a year end standard.  

  • Responsible for accurate monthly Stock reporting, and for overseeing the annual Warehouse stock counts for the audit.

  • Ensuring all balance sheet reconciliations are completed at each month end.

  • Managing the annual audit and liaising with auditors for production of the statutory accounts.

  • Maintenance of cashflow, actual and forecast, including foreign exchange contracts, to inform management decisions.

  • Maintenance & review of all supplier contracts to control costs. Recommend ways of reducing costs.

  • The production of quarterly royalty statements for Licensors, and ensuring a good relationship is maintained.

  • Production of management information and KPIs in relation to the performance of the business.

  • Production and payment of the VAT Return and HMRC supplementary declarations.

  • Pro-actively support the Head of Finance to improve the Financial Information being provided to the business, in order to support the achievement of the company objectives.

  • Overseeing the Payroll Manager to ensure that payroll is carried out accurately and promptly. Reconciliation of monthly payroll, to support management sign off for payment, whilst providing oversight to ensure that all required payroll related returns are made in a timely and accurate fashion by the Payroll Manager.

  • Line management of the Finance and Payroll teams. Ensuring tight controls are maintained and functions are improved where necessary for the continued development and smooth running of the finance team.

  • Assist the Head of Finance with the preparation of Budgets and Forecasts.

  • Other ad hoc duties as and when required by the Head of Finance and Managing Director.

  • To identify any lack of personal knowledge or skills impacting negatively and suggest action to offset. Discuss and agree with Line Manager any requirement for training or support.

 

Core Competencies/ Experience

  • Accountancy qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA)

  • At least 2 years post qualification experience in Management Accounts

  • A very strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential, including Pivots & VLOOKUPs

  • Previous Management experience is preferable

  • Previous experience of stock reporting is preferable

  • Knowledge of Access accounting system is preferable

  • Proven ability to handle confidential or sensitive information
